Let's multiply the impact ... 5 x 5 challenge!

Young Climate Warriors has been a charity for 5 years … it’s our 5^th birthday!

So we’re thinking in ‘5’s … are you up for a 5 x 5 challenge? (and it’s nothing to do with 4 x 4’s on wheels!)

Do you believe it when your teachers tell you maths is useful in real life?  Well … here we are using it to tackle climate change!  Can you do these sums …

1 x 1 = ?,   5 x 1 = ?    5 x 5 = ?    50 x 5 = ? Imagine the impact that we could have if 5 people, 50 people, 500 people, 5,000 people, 50,000 people were taking action rather than say just 1 of us.  50 of us sharing a climate conversation with 5 people – is engaging with 250 people!

What will YOUR ‘5x5’ challenge be?

·       Play this ‘climate board game’ -  5 times with 5 different people

·       Bake 50 cakes and sell them for 50p each – donating to Young Climate Warriors

·       Go litter-picking with 5 friends and collect 50 pieces of rubbish to recycle

·       Run 5 times around your local park/playground with 5 friends – and tell them all about Young Climate Warriors

·       Switch off 5 lights (or stand-by lights) before you leave for school on 5 days

·       Cycle, scoot or walk 5 km and get sponsored by 5 people – donating to Young Climate Warriors

·       Spot 5 wildflowers (lovely weeds!) and find out 5 things about each of them

·       Create 5 climate/nature posters and put them up on 5 windows

·       Try 5 local, seasonal vegetables and write a riddle about them to share with 5 friends

We are sure you’ll come up with something yourself … what will your 5 x 5 be?
